jean and gerald turpin

This year on the 30th May and the 21st September respectively, we said our goodbyes to our Mum and Dad

Mum was 90 years old and Dad was 95 when he left this earth less then 4 months after Mum

They had been together for 60 years

They will be missed beyond words.

POSTED 21st February 2017:

  'Lovely is the feeling now,
  Fever temperatures rising high
Power is the force the vow,
  That makes it happen.

  It asks no questions why,
  So get closer now
Just love me til you don't know how.

  Keep on
  With the force don't stop,
Don't stop til you get enough.
  Keep on
  With the force don't stop,
Don't stop til you get enough.'

Susie Victoria Hislop
25th November 1980 - 15th January 2017

RIP Susie. You were such a big part of my life for so long. So many happy memories, so many smiles, so much love and laughter.

You used to sing this to me:

'You are my sunshine, my only sunshine,
You make me happy, when skies are grey,
You'll never know dear, how much I love you,
So please don't take my sunshine away.'

I hope your sun will always keep on shining.

POSTED 1st September 2016:
'Losing your life is not the worst thing that can happen.
The worst thing is losing your reason to live.'

'I should be crying but I just can't let it show
I should be hoping but I can't stop thinking
Of all the things I should've said that I never said
All the things we should've done but we never did
All the things I should've given but I didn't

Oh, darling, make it go, make it go away
Give me these moments back
Give them back to me
Give me that little kiss
Give me your hand.'

Standing, standing by the wall
And the guns, they shot above our heads
And we kissed, as though nothing could fall'

Very happy and relieved to have finally passed my IAM motorbike test.

It's taken a couple of years to complete with work getting in the way but it was well worth it.

Not only did I pass but I got a 'First', a feat seldom achieved by all accounts.

'Somewhere, beyond what is right and wrong, there is a garden. I will meet you there.'     Rumi.

I hope and pray that someday, beyond all that has gone,
we will find that place where we are truly meant to be.

POSTED JANUARY 2012: A Prayer For 2012:

'This one, this one took it's toll on your faith
this one, this one broke the best that you gave
I know, I know how they laughed in your face
they hoped and hoped and they said you would break
How long you find when they cut you to size
then you sit around and smile
just a little

Say Happy New Year
'cos this is the end
of all that was broken
and needed to mend
Let go of your fears
Say Happy New Year

'Cos this is the start
the start of the new
And all that you wanted
all that you wanted
is coming to you

It's beautiful and broken
It's silently spoken
And every heart is open

(words by Jamie Hartman)

'Time is too slow for those who wait,
too swift for those who fear,
too long for those who grieve,
too short for those who rejoice.

But for those who love...

time is eternity'

Henry Van Dyke

John Lennon, #9 Dream lyrics

'So long ago
Was it in a dream, was it just a dream?
I know, yes I know
Seemed so very real, it seemed so real to me

Took a walk down the street
Through the heat whispered trees
I thought I could hear (hear, hear, hear)
Somebody called out my name
As it started to rain
Two spirits dancing so strange

Ah! bowakawa pousse, pousse
Ah! bowakawa pousse, pousse
Ah! bowakawa pousse, pousse

Dream, dream away
Magic in the air, was magic in the air?
I believe, yes I believe
More I cannot say, what more can I say?

On a river of sound
Through the mirror go 'round, 'round
I thought I could feel (feel, feel, feel)
Music touching my soul
Something warm, sudden cold
The spirit dance was unfolding

Ah! bowakawa pousse, pousse
Ah! bowakawa pousse, pousse
Ah! bowakawa pousse, pousse'

The world is a poorer place... robbed yet again.

On Life and LOVE...

'What is it? My dear?'
'Ah, how can we bear it?'
'Bear what?'
'This. For so short a time. How can we sleep this time away?'
'We can be quiet together, and pretend - since it is only the beginning - that we have all the time in the world.'
'And every day we shall have less. And then none.'
'Would you rather, therefore, have had nothing at all?'
'No. This is where I have always been coming to. Since my time began. And when I go away from here, this will be the mid-point, to which everything ran, before, and from which everything will run.
But now, my love, we are here, we are now, and those other times are running elsewhere.'

A.S. Byatt, 'Possession'
'The Time Traveller's Wife'
by Audrey Niffenegger

Wish You Were Here...
So you think you can tell...
Heaven from Hell, blue skies from pain,
Can you tell a green field from a cold steel rail,
a smile from a veil

Do you think you can tell...

Did they get you to trade your heroes for ghosts
hot ashes for trees, hot air for a cool breeze,
cold comfort for change...

Did you exchange a walk-on part in the war
for a lead role in a cage...

How I wish...

How I wish you were here...'

Beyond the Borders...
'Dici che il fiume trova la via al mare
E come il fiume giungerai a me
Oltre i confini
E le terre assetate
Dici che come il fiume
Come il fiume...
L'amore giungerà
E non so più pregare
E nell'amore non so più sperare
E quell'amore non so più aspettare'

(Bono, Brian Eno. Luciano Pavarotti RIP)

'Your soul is oftentimes a battlefield upon which your reason and your judgement wage war upon your passion and your appetite'

Kahil Gibran
'The Prophet'

'Essentially, faith is an attitude of trust and commitment. The man of faith therefore, is the man who takes up such an attitude in the face of the world. The world as a whole is, finally, a mystery that cannot be grasped except in partial and fragmentary ways. But faith trusts beyond the partial and the fragmentary in order to place trust and commitment in the mystery itself.'

Smell The Flowers While You Can

American artist, David Wojnarowicz, captured this image depicting how Indians hunted buffalo by causing them to run off cliffs. He identifies ourselves with the buffalo, pushed into the unknown by forces we cannot control or even understand.

'And you can tell everybody,
this is your song.
I hope you don't mind,
I hope you don't mind,
That I put down in words,
How wonderful life is
now you're in the world'
